Check your grade report; if you have any ZEROS, you need to check if you ever did that activity and turn it in. I know I returned some activities without recording them, so you may have the assignment in a folder and need to turn it back in to me so I can record it. If you never did an assignment or did it but didn't turn it in, you need to get that done today. I leave the building at 1:30, so all assignments need to be turned in by that time! My grades are due today.

10.21 Mean Jeans--Business Communication

Learn to write business letters. Unit 2, pp. 93-100. Review letter formats. Key a letter to Mrs. Michele Butler, Principal, Arcadia High School, 756 Raider Drive, Arcadia, WI 54612. The letter should contain 3 paragraphs. The first paragraph should explain to her about the Mean Jeans simulation you will be participating in. See pp. 5-15 in the Student Reference Guide. In the second paragraph describe the business you want to work for. See pp. 18-47 for information. In the third paragraph, invite Mrs. Butler to visit our classroom to see the model business community in action. She could stop in anytime between November 10 and December 23, between 10:40 and 11:26, in Room 214.

Remember to keep track of your sources of information and images, as you will need to include a Bibliography.

Management Career Research Activity. Using the Occupational Outlook Handbook and WiscCareers locate information needed for your report. Refer to the Career Research Project handout below. DO NOT create your slide show yet. Gather the information you need. Store it in a word processing document. We will start with the information, then create the slide show. This time we will also customize your slide template and include a footer.

Complete several assessments on WiscCareers.
If you do not have an account, you will need to create an account.
You will need a student code to create your account. The student code is arc-c828. If you have an existing account you need to transfer your account. To do this you need to go to **www.wiscareers.wisc.edu**. Directly below the log in area click on "at a new location?" Then enter the username and password you currently have. On the next screen you will need to enter the code arc-c828. Answer the questions and submit.
Once you have your account created, go to the assessments. Complete the following assessments:
  • Personal Globe Inventory(11th and 12th Grade)
  • Work Skills Inventory
  • Work Values Inventory

Based on the outcomes, select a manager-type position that best matches your personality.
You will be doing research on that manager position using the Occupational Outlook Handbook and WiscCareers to locate information needed for your report. We will start that research Wednesday. For now, read the packet Careers in Management, and complete the Fact and Idea Review. Key your answers in Word and submit them on edu20.org.
